The ornate six-storey house on Lāčplēša iela 13 with a fully built roof storey was erected in 1900 based on the design of Eclecticism’s master architect Karl Felsko. The edifice constitutes a crucial fragment of the cultural and historical development of Lāčplēša iela and fits in well with the surrounding urban landscape. For more than a century, this house has maintained its street-facing façade composition containing highly refined Neo-Renaissance finishing elements, which have been carefully restored and preserved. The street-facing and courtyard-facing façades, stairwells and gaudy entryways have all been restored.
The side facing Lāčplēša iela will be outfitted with night-time lighting, which will not only accentuate the facade’s splendid features, but also make this section of Lāčplēša iela more elegant. To determine the historical colour of the building, surveys of the walls and basement, as well as windows and doorways were performed, stripping and noting the different layers of paint. All windows were replaced with double-glazed units having wooden frames, and stairwells were renovated completely – this included the restoration of decorative handrails and stair surfaces, designer lighting (supplied by Trentini), and new wooden doors (manufactured by Reaton) installed at the entrances to the individual flats. A new elevator (manufactured by Kone) will soon be installed as well, along with a video surveillance system.
The building contains 28 flats varying in area from 36 m² to 128 m². The flats themselves are not being renovated but sold as they are, including interior finishing, furniture, and all other interior fittings and accessories. Commercial spaces have been established on the first storey of the building, with small offices and a restaurant facing Lāčplēša iela. The yard facing the interior of the city block combines a passage with contemporary residential houses forming the Club Central Residence, and a beautifully restored enclosed building that will house an elite medical centre.
A flat in a renovated building in the very centre of Riga, within the prestigious, highly-prized Baznīcas iela/ Lāčplēša iela block, will make a wonderful investment in one’s future!
